Gary Neville is 'concerned as to whether Manchester United can fight' Liverpool off
Is another season of missing out on the Champions League in store for Manchester United?
Well, it's a possibly - particularly if Liverpool keep up their recent form, as Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville pointed out Wednesday.
In his latest article for The Telegraph, Neville - who spent all 19 years of his professional career at Old Trafford - wrote about Liverpool's resurgence to the top of the Premier League table and expressed concern at United's chances of clinching a Champions League berth as a result.
The biggest compliment I can give to Liverpool for the way they are currently playing is I left Anfield on Sunday a worried man.
For the first time this season I am concerned as to whether Manchester United can fight them off in the scrap for the Champions League places.
I've backed United all season, and I won't be changing my mind at this stage, but it's fair to say Liverpool have emerged as much more of a threat than I considered a few weeks ago.
Liverpool have narrowed the gap from five to two points between themselves and United, who currently hold the fourth and final Champions League berth.
Neville goes on to claim that Liverpool look capable of reaching Europe's most prestigious club competition, as they've stopped conceding goals - three goals allowed in their last seven Premier League fixtures - and have found a system that works for their players.
March 22 will see Liverpool host United in a match that will go a long way in determining who reaches the Champions League.
