AFC Bournemouth chairman on promotion to Premier League: 'I think we'll survive'
Welcome to the Premier League, Jeff Mostyn.
AFC Bournemouth's 3-0 win versus Bolton Wanderers on Monday produced wild scenes at Dean Court, as the result essentially secured Bournemouth's promotion to the Premier League.
A vintage pitch invasion ensued after the whistle, and Mostyn - the club's chairman who bears a striking resemblance to Rich Uncle Pennybags - was subsequently seen celebrating the accomplishment with his players inside the dressing room, shouting: "I love these fucking boys."
Mostyn's euphoria is completely understandable. Bournemouth were only five minutes away from being liquidated back in 2008, when he wrote a £100,000 cheque to keep the club afloat.
Seven years later, Bournemouth are all but guaranteed a spot in next season's Premier League, and Mostyn doesn't have any intention of returning to the Championship in the near future.
"I think we'll survive," Mostyn told BBC Sport. "We are going up with Watford and we've got four points from them this year, we beat QPR (Queens Park Rangers) last year and we should have got more points from Burnley.
"The way we play football we'll enhance the Premier League and I think of any team that has been promoted in recent years, we have as much chance as any of staying up."
It's also worth noting that Mostyn was celebrating Bournemouth's result well into the night on Sunday.
OMG just got home 0250 What has just happened so proud of everyone @afcbournemouth on promotion to the @premierleague #DreamsDoComeTrue
