Report: Louis van Gaal handed another £150 million to invest in summer transfer window

Louis van Gaal's wallet is reportedly about to explode.

According to the Guardian, the Manchester United manager has been handed £150 million to invest in the summer transfer window - a figure roughly equivalent to what he spent one year ago, when he purchased Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo.

Van Gaal is reportedly free to sign Juventus's human highlight reel Paul Pogba, who would consume about half of the £150 million, as the 22-year-old prodigy is valued at €100 million (£71.5 million) by the Serie A champions. The manager is apparently also keeping an eye on Pogba's midfield partner, Arturo Vidal.

Regarding United's backline, Van Gaal's interest in Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels is reportedly undiminished. Hummels has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the season, and a recent report indicated that Van Gaal had tabled a £30-million bid for the German defender in April.

United may also be in search of a 'keeper should David de Gea decide to turn down an apparent £150,000-a-week contract offer and join Real Madrid. It was reported in late April that Van Gaal was scouting Hugo Lloris of Tottenham as a potential replacement, while Chelsea's Petr Cech and Inter Milan's Samir Handanovic are also believed to be on his radar.

Gareth Bale, who finds himself as a scapegoat for the lack of silverware at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, is apparently also being sought by Van Gaal, but it can be tough getting a read on the Welshman's future given the political turmoil that constantly surrounds Real Madrid.

A 10-year kit deal with Adidas valued at a world-record £750 million has more than compensated for the roughly £50 million in revenue that United lost by missing out on this season's Champions League.
