Dejan Lovren somehow ranked top centre-back in EPL by Football Observatory
Important question: have you gotten around to doing those sit ups today?
No? Me neither.
But don't fret, the Football Observatory - a research group operating within the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) - is here to help. Prepare your abdominal muscles for their best workout of the week. All you have to do is laugh.
The organization's annual end-of-season player rankings have been released, with five positions (centre-back, fullback, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder and forward) contested among players from the top five European leagues.
Lionel Messi won one category. Cesc Fabregas claimed top spot in another. No real complaints there.
As for the centre-backs, well, now it gets fun.
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren, whose first season with the Reds has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster since his move from Southampton, ranked as the best centre-back in the Premier League, according to the Observatory. That is all.
Enjoy your ab workout.
