Lampard scores in Premier League farewell
MANCHESTER - Frank Lampard wrapped up his Premier League career by scoring in Manchester City's 2-0 win over Southampton on Sunday on the last day of the season.
The former England and Chelsea midfielder, made captain in his final game before joining New York City in the MLS, opened the scoring as runner-up City ended its league campaign with a sixth successive win.
Lampard was taken off in the 77th minute to a huge ovation from all sides of the ground before the prolific Sergio Aguero grabbed the second goal from close range three minutes from time.
It was the Argentine's 26th Premier League goal of the season and underlined his status as golden boot winner.
Lampard, meanwhile, signed off with his 259th goal in his 882nd club appearance in English club football.
