Lukas Podolski admits Inter Milan loan was a mistake, hopes for Arsenal return
Lukas Podolski has come to the conclusion that his move to Inter Milan from Arsenal was a mistake.
The German international moved to Inter during the January transfer window as his role with Arsenal limited him to a place on the bench. However, things didn't get much better with the Serie A team, as he only managed 17 appearances.
Now, Podolski appears to have his sights set on regaining Arsene Wenger's trust, and is eager to compete for a regular spot with Arsenal.
"I’ve always felt comfortable there. With the fans, with the team and also with the manager. I’m going back to play, I have to say my qualities suit Arsenal," Podolski told German publication Bild, courtesy of The Guardian.
“Inter? Last season went how it went. English football is the one which best suits my style but I know how suddenly everything can change.
“I have characteristics to help different teams but it was a mistake to go to Inter with no redemption clauses."
The 30-year-old found himself down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium thanks to Arsenal's plethora of midfield talent. While it's unlikely Podolski will become a consistent starter, his new-found dedication to the club could see his playing time increase from the 20 league appearances he made during his last full season in north London.
