In a reminder that money is talking louder than ever in football and that loyalty is dead, Fabian Delph put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Manchester City on Friday after the club triggered the £8-million release clause in his contract.

The signing less than one week after Delph had confirmed that he would remain at Aston Villa, issuing a statement on the club's official website that read: "I'm aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club."

For those Villa supporters looking to tape a picture of Delph's face to their dartboard, the 25-year-old midfielder enjoyed his first day at City on Sunday, meaning there are plenty of screenshots to choose from.

Villa hosts Manchester City on Nov. 7, a date that Villa supporters have surely circled on their calendar.
