Van Gaal still unsure about Di Maria's whereabouts, future
Louis van Gaal continues to be in the dark when it comes to Angel Di Maria's whereabouts.
The Manchester United boss still isn't sure where Di Maria is after the midfielder failed to link up with his club Saturday during its preseason tour of the United States.
Coincidentally, United's opponents just happen to be the team most heavily linked with the Argentine, as speculation over a transfer agreement between the Premier League outfit and Paris Saint-Germain continues to dominate headlines.
"You can ask that every week, but it is the same answer," Van Gaal told reporters after United's loss to PSG. "Maybe you know? I don't know that either."
His frustration was visible when reporters continued to press about a possible agreement that could see United make €40 million (£28 million), which would be a massive loss compared to the reported £59 million it paid Real Madrid last summer.
"I don't know because I'm not the same manager as Laurent Blanc," Van Gaal said. "I don't want to answer these questions. With Manchester United, we shall announce something when it is already done and not when it isn't done, because it's a process."
While Van Gaal gave the impression he's been left out of the negotiations, his counterpart, Blanc, hinted that an agreement is close to being finished.
"You know negotiations are in tandem," Blanc said at a news conference. "But as United and Paris Saint Germain are both big clubs, that can be difficult. But we feel we are close to the end."
