Newly promoted teams continue to face opening day struggles

Watford came the closest, but in the end, it was yet another poor start to life in England's top flight for newly promoted teams.

The Premier League's three newest teams combined to collect one point to continue an unsightly trend among promoted clubs:

AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City suffered opening day losses at home after falling to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, respectively.

Meanwhile, Watford put on an impressive road display at Goodison Park before a late Everton goal earned the hosts a 2-2 draw inside the final minutes of the match.

The trio will hope their luck is better than last season's three promoted teams, as Queens Park Rangers, Leicester City, and Burnley went on to lose their second match of the 2014-15 season.
