Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho calls out entire team, himself in candid news conference
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho gave a candid interview on Friday, and it's safe to say the Portuguese tactician isn't happy with his team as of late.
It's no secret that the Premier League's reigning champions haven't started off in the best of form. The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw against Swansea to open the season, then followed it up with a 3-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend. Those two results have Mourinho fuming.
"I'm not happy with anyone," Mourinho told reporters. "I'm not happy with Branislav Ivanovic's form, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Cesar Azpilicueta, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, or Nemanja Matic."
"I'm not happy with my form because I used to get better results than I'm getting now," he added. "This is the start of everything."
After a moment of rare personal criticism, Mourinho pointed to his own methods of self-improvement, something he wants his players to show as well.
"I go to the gym every day now to get fitter," Mourinho said, admitting he would only go once every six months before. "Maybe I need more action on the touchline, so I need to be fitter."
Perhaps Mourinho can inspire his players to perform with his own quest for physical perfection. But, for now, he'll work on getting the team back to its winning ways during Chelsea's visit to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom on Sunday.
