Thank God.

Dieumerci Mbokani, one of the most imposing strikers the Democratic Republic of Congo has ever produced - and whose name translates to "Thank God" - joined Norwich City on a season-long loan from Dynamo Kyiv on Monday in a deal that includes an option to buy.

The transfer is subject to approval of a work permit.

Mbokani, 29, will join compatriot Youssouf Mulumbu at Carrow Road, and arrives with an impressive resume.

Beginning his career in D.R. Congo with Bel'Or and TP Mazembe, he went on to define himself as a prolific scorer at Standard Liege and Anderlecht, which he helped secure the Jupiler Pro League title in both 2011-12 and 2012-13.

At the international level, and more recently, Mbokani guided D.R. Congo to third place at this year's Africa Cup of Nations, tallying three goals and one assist in six matches.

"Dieumerci is going to give us competition at the top end of the pitch, and I think we've needed a bit of strengthening there," manager Alex Neil said. "He's a big, strong No. 9 - he can take the ball in, he's mobile and he's a real threat in the box. We're hoping all of those things come together for him.

"He's got a good track record and he's playing Champions League football, so I think it's an exciting signing for us."

Neil is right about Norwich's need for strengthening at the top end of the pitch, as one of the club's joint top scorers through four Premier League matchdays is Russell Martin ... a defender.
