Gary Hooper allegedly turned down a move to Championship club Sheffield Wednesday because the Yorkshire club refused to provide a VIP box for games.

Hooper tallied an impressive 12 goals in 16 starts for Norwich City last term, as it clinched promotion to the top flight. So far this campaign, however, the former Tottenham Hotspur trainee has had just 11 minutes of action.

His lack of first team action alerted the Owls, who reportedly had agreed to a £500-thousand loan fee with Norwich. But the move broke down because of Hooper's request for a £30-thousand a season VIP box for his family, according to the Sheffield Star.

The Essex lad has refuted the claims via a brief tweet:

Hooper's career started to gain momentum as a 20-year-old at Scunthorpe United, where he scored 24 goals in League One. The season after, his 19 goals in the Championship earned him a move to Scottish giants Celtic.

After an three successful years with the Bhoys, Norwich signed Hooper for an undisclosed fee.

Following the failed move to Sheffield, it is unknown whether family and friends will be watching Hooper sit on the bench from their VIP box this season.
