VIDEO: Manchester United striker James Wilson scores on England U21 debut
Manchester United forward James Wilson came off the bench to score the winner in his first appearance for the England Under-21s.
The Young Lions hosted USA U23s in a friendly at Preston North End's Deepdale ground.
With the score tied at 0-0, Wilson capped his 61st minute introduction by scoring 11 minutes later. A quickly taken free kick from Jake Forster-Caskey unleashed Duncan Watmore in the box. The Sunderland midfielder then played the ball inside, past the goalkeeper and leaving Wilson with nothing to do but tuck it away.
The 19-year-old was linked to a temporary move to West Bromwich Albion towards the end of the transfer window, but nothing materialised. He now has a new competitor at Old Trafford in £36-million striker Anthony Martial.
