Bristol Rovers' winger Jake Gosling was given a presentation in the club's dressing room to congratulate him on being Gibraltar's all-time record scorer with two goals.
He has scored both of the country's strikes since it gained its UEFA membership in 2013.
Manager Darrell Clarke candidly expressed his disappointment at Wayne Rooney stealing the headlines by becoming England's top goalscorer with 50, before unveiling a white T-shirt with the message of "Jake Gosling, 2, All-time record goalscorer" scribbled on.
Gosling is in his second season with the fourth-tier club, and is eligible for Gibraltar through his father, who was born in the British Overseas Territory.
