Liverpool is still searching for its first win under manager Jurgen Klopp after failing to beat 10-man Rubin Kazan in the Europa League on Thursday.
It's the third straight 1-1 draw for the Reds in the tournament, leaving them with just three points in Group B.
Kazan took the lead in the 15th minute through Marko Devic, who took down a brilliant ball from full-back Oleg Kuzmin and slashed a shot past 'keeper Simon Mignolet.
The go-ahead strike killed the buzz around Anfield, where supporters held aloft scarves and waved flags adorning Klopp's name and likeness during the pre-match festivities. It was, after all, the manager's first game in charge of Liverpool at the famed stadium.
But then, a lifeline: A red card to Kuzmin later in the first half gave Liverpool the impetus to get back in the game. On the resulting free-kick, Emre Can jumped on a loose ball and scored the equaliser.

After that, the ball was almost exclusively in Kazan's end. Liverpool pushed and pushed for the lead, with midfielder Philippe Coutinho running free and finding lanes between the Kazan defence.
Despite attempting 33 shots, however, the Merseyside club couldn't register a winner.
Christian Benteke, who came off the bench upon recovering from a hamstring injury, came closest with a curling strike in the 79th minute, but it hit the far post.
Klopp was instead left with another frustrating draw to start his Liverpool career, but it actually improved the team's position in the Group B standings to second place.
