England, Scotland, Northern Ireland punished by UEFA for fan behaviour
Three British countries have been punished by UEFA due to the actions of their supporters.
The European governing body has detailed the punishments for England and Scotland on its website, while the Irish Football Association has confirmed the fine for misbehaving Northern Ireland supporters on irishfa.com.
The English Football Association has been fined for crowd disturbances during the national side's 3-0 win in Vilnius earlier this month. Lithuania has also received the same charge, along with infractions for ticketing issues and blocked stairways at the LFF Stadium.
England's fine comes to €15,000 (£10,768), or around a 28th of England captain Wayne Rooney's weekly wage at Manchester United.
Scotland's supporter behaviour has also fallen foul of UEFA's standards, and the Scottish Football Association received a fine of €20,000 for insufficient organisation, field invasions by supporters, and stairways blocked at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
The side's opponent on Oct. 8, Poland, has been fined double that amount for the setting off and throwing of fireworks, the throwing of objects, and crowd disturbances (specifically fighting with stewards).
Northern Ireland clinched qualification to the Euro 2016 finals against Greece at Belfast's Windsor Park on Oct. 8, an event which caused some of its support to get carried away. The Irish Football Association has reported the receipt of a €7,000 fine for "pitch incursions," and they will not appeal the body's decision.
