Debuchy will meet with Wenger to discuss future at Arsenal

Mathieu Debuchy has once again hinted at a possible departure from Arsenal in an effort to find a destination willing to give him a regular first-team role.

The 30-year-old is eager to resume playing on a regular basis and catch the attention of French manager Didier Deschamps ahead of the 2016 European Championship. Debuchy was left off the national team, apparently because of his failure to win back his first-team place with Arsenal.

After only managing two Premier League appearances, Debuchy says he'll talk to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger about his role ahead of the winter transfer window.

"We talked about my situation in preseason, I haven't talked to him recently, but we'll talk before the transfer window," Debuchy revealed to French radio station RMC, with translation from The Guardian.

"I really need to play. Didier Deschamps didn't call me for the last two games, so it's obvious, I've got to play more than I do, that's why I want to talk to Wenger soon. I do have to accept it anyway, I can't do otherwise. This situation doesn't please me, but I have to accept it."

Injuries have plagued Debuchy since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium from Newcastle United in 2014. He has since lost his starting place at right-back to Hector Bellerin.

While he's willing to move to another English club, Debuchy added that he's open to a move back to France, where he began his senior career with Lille in 2003 before moving to Newcastle 10 years later.
