Report: Mourinho faces potential legal dilemma for role in Carneiro case
Jose Mourinho's firing could have financial ramifications as the club deals with the legal claim from former first-team doctor Eva Carneiro, reports Ben Rumsby of The Telegraph.
The Blues may no longer have to front the court fees for Mourinho, meaning he will be personally liable for any damages Carneiro seeks against him.
A private hearing between Carneiro's lawyers and Chelsea's representatives is scheduled for Jan. 6. It relates to the opening match of the Premier League season, after which Mourinho criticised Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn for treating Eden Hazard at an inopportune time. They were removed from matchday activities, and Carneiro eventually left the club altogether.
If Chelsea doesn't reach a settlement and instead allows the case to go to public court, Mourinho could reportedly be forced to pay his own legal bills.
Mourinho's departure could facilitate the return of Carneiro, who served as the Chelsea's first-team doctor from 2009-2015.
Her constructive dismissal claim reportedly includes a request for reinstatement.
