The 23-year-old Ghanaian was hampered by back and shin injuries during his time at Dean Court, restricting him to just two League Cup appearances against Hartlepool United and Preston North End.
Atsu wasn't named in Chelsea's matchday squad for its trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday, and it remains to be seen whether the winger will be sent out on another temporary spell after a sorry time on the south coast.
