The injury sustained by Diego Costa against Everton on Saturday might hasten Chelsea's alleged pursuit of Alexandre Pato, but the club could face competition from Newcastle United for the Brazilian.

At this stage last season, Chelsea had scored 20 more goals and has been linked with various moves for a new striker with the troublesome Costa only recently ending a barren spell and Loic Remy out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Remy will be allowed to leave Chelsea if Pato is acquired from Corinthians, according to the Telegraph's Matt Law, but the Newcastle Chronicle reports that the Magpies have been offered Pato's services, along with Liverpool.
Given Newcastle's reported interest in Remy in the past, it could be quite the transfer merry-go-round over the final two weeks of the January transfer window.
