The Old Trafford faithful berated Louis van Gaal as he walked off the pitch, and the Dutchman admitted after the contest that his side deserved the scorn raining down from the crowd.
"They are right to boo. I cannot deny that," Van Gaal said. "Of course they are disappointed and they have the right to boo me but we have to stick together in this period because we have a lot of injuries."

Added Van Gaal: "It was not good today. We lost and in a sense you could know that our defense with set plays became every minute weaker because I had to change players. It was a poor game and we could not create chances. Our opponent also had a few chances but it is more or less a 0-0 game but, at the end we have lost."
