The 33-year-old completed the move after a successful medical on Monday and could make his first start since November 2014 against Brentford on Feb. 5.
Sidwell will be reunited with former Fulham teammates Bobby Zamora, Liam Rosenoir, and David Stockdale at the Falmer Stadium.
"Steve is an experienced player who has played virtually his entire career in the Premier League. He knows this club, as well as a few of the squad and will supplement our existing midfield options," manager Chris Hughton told the club website.
Brighton has proved a surprise package this term and currently sits third in the Championship table with two consecutive wins, ending a worrying run of form.
