Jamie Vardy in no doubt that 30-yard volley against Liverpool is his greatest goal

Jamie Vardy's 17th goal of the Premier League season was, in his opinion, the best of his career.

On Wednesday, one day after he scored both of Leicester City's goals in the Foxes' 2-0 victory over Liverpool and took his tally for the season to a league-leading 18 goals, Vardy didn't hesitate to heap praise on his 30-yard screamer that opened the scoring and left Simon Mignolet for dead.

"It's probably my best, no shadow of a doubt," Vardy said, according to the Guardian. "I just hope there's more of them to come.

"When I've been put through, I'm wide but haven't got any support. I've hit it hoping he (Mignolet) is off his line a bit. Luckily he was and it's nestled into the top corner."

Vardy, who is reportedly on the verge of signing a new three-and-a-half-year contract with Leicester that will see him earn a "significant salary hike" on his £40,000-a-week deal, had previously never scored from outside the opposing team's penalty area.

Even Jurgen Klopp couldn't help but pay tribute to Vardy after the final whistle, telling Sky Sports: "I was close to clapping my hands to be honest but I just felt too bad at the moment."
