Terry: 'No communication' over new Chelsea contract
Chelsea captain John Terry has reiterated his desire to remain with the Blues beyond this season, even though he admits there's yet to be talks between him and the club.
"It's a difficult one. The club is the most important thing but there's no communication at the moment," he told Sky Sports following Chelsea's comeback 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
Terry said last month that Chelsea decided not to offer him a new contract once his current deal expires at the end of the campaign. The club refuted those claims in a subsequent statement, adding it would "keep the channels of dialogue open" ahead of possible negotiations.
But the 35-year-old, who's served as Chelsea's skipper for more than a decade, indicated there are no discussions currently taking place.
"I said what I had to say, that's how it is. I've made it very clear I want to stay, but more important is getting up to where we should be in the table," he added.
In a show of support for Terry, the fans at Stamford Bridge pulled up all the banners except the one in the Matthew Harding Stand: "JT Captain, Leader, Legend." It was a move to put more pressure on the club and owner Roman Abramovich, who has hesitated to give anything more than one-year deals to players over 30.
