Arsenal's Jack Wilshere hoping to face Barcelona in 2nd leg of Champions League clash

Jack Wilshere's highly anticipated return to the pitch could come at the Camp Nou.

In conversation with BT Sport 2, Wilshere agreed with Arsene Wenger's claim that he is "three or four weeks" away from lacing up his cleats, admitting that he could feature in the second leg of Arsenal's Champions League tie against Barcelona, which goes March 16.

Wilshere, 24, suffered a fractured fibula on the eve of last year's Community Shield and it was initially announced that he would miss "approximately three months." However, the English midfielder's return date was then pushed back to February before being pushed back once again to mid-March.

"It is possible, I mean it's difficult to get back," Wilshere said, according to the Press Association. "The Premier League gets quicker and quicker and I know I'm not old but I'm different from when I was 19, it takes a bit more time.

"But I'm training and running and hopefully I will be back. I'm not sure how long it's going to take because I've only been doing ball work for about a week. I probably need a game in the under-21s and I'll be ready."

Wilshere's injury marks another in a long line of ailments, as he was limited to 14 Premier League appearances last season due to an ankle injury that required two operations.
