Mark Noble: 'Very slim' chance I'll make England's Euro 2016 squad
Mark Noble has conceded his chances for making the England squad for the Euro 2016 finals are "very slim" as he prepares for his West Ham United testimonial Monday.
The one-club man has been a magnificent servant for the Hammers over his career, and this season has hit some particularly fine form. Unfortunately, his influential performances in midfield have gone unnoticed on the international stage once again.
"I'd love to (play at Euro 2016) but I think especially with the squad announcement, if I'm honest with myself, the chances are very slim. Once the squad got announced, I just put it to the back of my mind," the 29-year-old skipper admitted.
"There are some great players in that England squad and a lot of people, and West Ham fans thought I should have been in it but I'm not that sort of person. Obviously, over the last two months there has been so much talk about it and everyone I talk to asks me about it but I just took it in my stride."
A player singled out as one who perhaps unfairly jumped ahead of Noble in the Three Lions' pecking order is Danny Drinkwater, who's played a similarly pivotal and energetic game in the middle for Leicester City. Other combative central midfielders in the squad include Jordan Henderson, Ross Barkley, Adam Lallana, Dele Alli, and Eric Dier, while Jonjo Shelvey, Ryan Mason, Michael Carrick, and injured duo Fabian Delph and Jack Wilshere missed out.

Noble, formerly a proud captain of his country's Under-21 side, plays in a position of which manager Roy Hodgson boasts a wealth of talent.
"I'm English, I've always wanted to play for England but it's out of my hands," he continued. "I've loved playing this season, it's been a great season for me personally and for the club. But there is nothing I can do about England, I'll just put it to the back of my mind and enjoy Monday with my family and my friends, and have a real good laugh."
The Canning Town native's testimonial Monday - which will pit current teammates against an XI comprising of club legends - will see the proceeds go to charities Help for Heroes, the Dylan Tombides Foundation, and Richard House Children's Hospice.
