Atletico reach agreement with Real Madrid to sign Marcos Llorente
Marcos Llorente will remain in Spain's capital after Atletico Madrid reached an agreement to sign the 24-year-old from Real Madrid, pending medical tests, the club announced Thursday.
Atletico revealed that Llorente has signed a five-year contract, while Hugo Cerezo of Marca reports that Los Rojiblanco completed the deal after their city rivals accepted a bid believed to be worth €40 million.
"We welcome a great football player and wish him the best of luck in this beautiful and new challenge defending the Atletico de Madrid shirt," the Spanish side said in a statement.
Llorente joined Real Madrid's youth academy in 2008 before making his senior debut in 2015. He scored two goals in 16 appearances in all competitions last season.
It's expected that Llorente will act as the replacement for Rodri, who's been linked with a €70-million transfer to Manchester City this summer.
