Wolverhampton are reportedly attempting to reinforce their defense with the signing of Real Madrid outcast Jesus Vallejo.

The Premier League club is negotiating a deal with the Spanish side that would bring the center-back to Molineux Stadium on loan for the 2019-20 season, according to Saj Chowdhury of BBC Sport.

The deal is expected to be finalized imminently, according to Marca's Hugo Cerezo, who added that Vallejo had hoped to stay in Madrid but is far down the pecking order at his position.

The 22-year-old has failed to break into the first team since his arrival from Real Zaragoza in 2015 for €6 million, and he appeared in just seven matches last season.

Wolves are coming off a successful return to the Premier League, which saw them finish in seventh place and secure a spot in the qualifying stage of the Europa League.

They've yet to announce a new signing this summer, although they've secured the services of Raul Jimenez and midfielder Leander Dendoncker on permanent deals following successful loan spells.
