Five players in the top two divisions of Spanish football have tested positive for the coronavirus, La Liga confirmed Sunday.
The clubs and players involved were not revealed, though Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi was among those who tested positive, according to ESPN.
La Liga said in a statement that all cases are "asymptomatic and in the final stage of the illness."
Tests were carried out this week as players returned to their respective training grounds for the first time since Spanish football was shut down in March.
Barcelona were one of the first teams to resume training, with players allowed to engage in individual workouts on separate pitches. They couldn't use indoor facilities and went directly home after the sessions were over.
Real Madrid players will begin individual practices at the club's Valdebebas training center on Monday as Spain gradually eases social distancing protocols.
La Liga hopes to restart its season on June 11, though a date has not been finalized. Much like the Bundesliga, which will return May 16 after the German government gave the league the green light, any potential resumption of football will be subject to approval from Spain's government and health officials.
Spain has over 223,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, with 26,478 related deaths.
