Aubameyang hits back after Kroos slammed mask celebration
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responded to Toni Kroos after the Real Madrid star made headlines for his unprovoked criticism of the Arsenal forward.
The German midfielder slammed Aubameyang and Barcelona attacker Antoine Griezmann for their choreographed goal celebrations, which Kroos describes as "nonsense."
Aubameyang vowed to continue his elaborate celebrations - such as putting on the masks of various superheroes - and he ended his Twitter response on Thursday with a clown emoji.
The forward first donned a superhero mask to celebrate a goal at Borussia Dortmund, while Griezmann has become famous for his Fortnite dance after scoring.
While there's been little backlash, Kroos said on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast that he's not a fan of the antics.
"I find it very silly. Even worse is if there are any objects hidden in their socks,' he said, as the Daily Mail's Ollie Lewis translated. "Aubameyang once celebrated and took out a mask. That's where it ends with me.
"I don't think that's a good role model, either. What nonsense."
"What I always found sweet was Gerd Muller," he added. "He just jumped up, pulled up his pants. That was real joy, nothing big."
Aubameyang has worn the masks of Batman, Spider-man, and Black Panther over the years.
