Report: Kessie agrees to join Barcelona on free transfer

Franck Kessie will play for Barcelona next season after agreeing to a four-year contract with the Spanish giants, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

The midfielder was available on a free transfer this summer due to the expiration of his AC Milan contract. Kessie will reportedly receive an annual net salary of €6.5 million before add-ons at Barcelona and has already completed a medical.

He moved to the Rossoneri for an eventual fee of around €28 million in 2017. The 25-year-old has made 23 Serie A appearances this term, scoring five times while mopping up behind Milan's attackers. He won't be at the World Cup later this year after the Ivory Coast failed to reach the tournament in Qatar.

Barcelona are seeking more cut-price options to strengthen their new-look squad. Danish defender Andreas Christensen has been linked with a switch to the Camp Nou when his Chelsea deal expires at the end of the season.
