Spurs sign Danjuma on loan despite winger's reported agreement with Everton
Tottenham Hotspur signed Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal on Wednesday.
The winger completed a medical and did media responsibilities with relegation-threatened Everton last weekend before Spurs hijacked the deal, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Danjuma, 25, played in the Premier League with Bournemouth during the 2019-20 season but truly flourished for the Cherries after they were relegated in that campaign. The Nigeria-born Dutch winger racked up 15 goals and seven assists over 33 appearances in England's second tier, convincing Villarreal to pay around €25 million for his services.
He was an instant hit last season with Villarreal, scoring six goals over 11 Champions League outings and adding a further 10 goals in La Liga. Danjuma featured less for the Yellow Submarine this term as he scored twice in 10 La Liga appearances, but he still crammed in another four goals in Copa del Rey and Europa Conference League matches.
Danjuma drew plaudits mostly through his work on the left wing, but he can be utilized as a central attacker. Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison have played the most Premier League minutes in Antonio Conte's frontline this season. Ivan Perisic is regularly deployed at wing-back while Lucas Moura is out of favor and expected to leave when his Spurs contract expires this summer.
