Real Valladolid parted ways with Argentine coach Diego Cocca on Monday after a painful two-months at the helm of the club owned by the Brazil great Ronaldo Nazario.
Cocca oversaw six defeats and a single win after taking over from Paulo Pezzolano, himself sacked in December after winning promotion from the second tier but then securing just two wins in 15 games.
Following Sunday's 4-0 home defeat to Sevilla, Ronaldo's club have just 15 points from 24 top flight games with 14 more matches left to close an eight point gap and escape the drop.
The 48-year-old Ronaldo is planning to sell his 51 percent share in the club and is a candidate to take over as head of the Brazilian football confederation.
