Milik's goal gives Poland 1st-ever win at European Championship

Poland recorded its first-ever victory at the European Championship on Sunday, defeating Northern Ireland 1-0 courtesy of a second-half strike from 22-year-old forward Arkadiusz Milik.

One of the popular dark horses heading into the tournament, Poland entered Sunday's contest without a victory in six matches at the Euros, having been forced to settle for three draws and a trio of losses.
But Milik, who formed a lethal partnership with star striker Robert Lewandowski throughout qualifying, got his side off the schneid, firing home a low left-footed drive in the 51st minute to break the sturdy Northern Ireland resistance.

Northern Ireland, for all its industry and solid defensive work, lacked any sort of inventiveness in attack, creating just two shots over the 90 minutes - and putting only one on target.
