Report: Liverpool's Origi expected to miss 4-6 weeks with ankle injury
Liverpool forward Divock Origi is expected to sit out the remainder of the club season as a result of a horrific tackle in Wednesday's Merseyside derby, according to the Guardian's Andy Hunter.
The initial fear is Origi will miss four-to-six weeks, essentially robbing manager Jurgen Klopp of one of his hottest players. Scans showed Origi avoided a broken ankle but still sustained damage to his ligaments because of the foul by Everton centre-back Ramiro Funes Mori, who was sent off for the challenge, but has since apologised.
The injury put a damper on another euphoric night at Anfield, where Liverpool registered a 4-0 win over its city rival. Klopp said it cast a "big shadow" on the result, and it will certainly affect the way the German prepares for the Europa League semi-final against Villarreal on April 28 and May 5.
Klopp relied on Origi in recent matches, with the Belgium international scoring five goals in his last five matches across all competitions.
