Tucker: Team USA's lost scrimmage was '2 quarters of practice'

The United States men's basketball team lost what was widely described as an end-of-practice scrimmage against the "Select Team" - comprised of fringe NBA players - on Wednesday by a score of 36-17.

P.J. Tucker, one of the 15 players in consideration for the 12-man roster that will head to China for the FIBA World Cup later this month, took umbrage with some reports of the defeat.

"We didn't play a game. That was two quarters of practice and whatever," Tucker said Wednesday, according to The New York Times' Marc Stein. "We (came) in today and nobody talked about it."

While the senior team boasts a handful of NBA All-Stars, including Kemba Walker, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez, the underdog Select Team features few players with significant experience in the Association.

For Tucker, though, labeling Wednesday's events as anything remotely serious would be incorrect.

"Nobody gave the whole perspective of what happened. They just threw the score up and said, 'They lost,'" he added. "It was two quarters after we'd been playing two hours."
