Moreno joins the Italian side on a four-year contract that will keep him in the capital until 2021.

"I am very happy to sign for Roma," Moreno said. "This represents an important step up in my career.

"I hope I can show my individual qualities and contribute to the overall success of the team."

Moreno spent two seasons in Holland where he helped PSV lift the Eredivisie title in 2016, and previously spent four years in Spain with Espanyol.

Roma’s sporting director Monchi revealed that he's previously targeted the Mexico international, adding that he's excited about the prospect of deploying Moreno in the heart of the team's defence.

"Moreno has been a target of mine for a long time, and fortunately now the circumstances are right for him to join us at Roma," Monchi said. "This is a central defender with a lot of international experience, and he perfectly fit the profile we were looking for."

The versatile defender, who is capable of playing centre-back and left-back, is currently on international duty and will feature for Mexico at the Confederations Cup in Russia.
