Carlos Sainz Jr.: Fast FP2 at Silverstone

Ferrari's Sainz clocked the quickest time in second practice for the British Grand Prix, ahead of home hero Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes at Silverstone, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Unlike practice 1, this session was run on a fully dry Silverstone circuit. Sainz would fit out his Ferrari with soft tyres for the session-ending low-fuel run and top the timing sheets. He would edge Lewis Hamilton, also on soft tyres, for the fastest lap of FP2. Coming off the runner-up finish in the Canadian GP last time out, Sainz will be seeking the podium again in Sunday's British GP.
