Perez took pole position for the 2023 Miami Grand Prix after a dramatic conclusion to Q3, which saw Max Verstappen qualify ninth as Charles Leclerc spun out to bring out a red flag, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
Drama would build into Q3 as the Red Bulls clearly had the pace to beat. The final round would see drivers get in at least one timed lap, but a spin and crash by Charles Leclerc in the last two minutes would bring the session to an early end. Perez would be sitting atop the timesheets with a sterling lap of 1:26.841. The red flag would prevent any contenders from making one last shot at Perez's marker. He'll start P1 Sunday in the Miami Grand Prix.
