Max Verstappen won his seventh straight race and Red Bull earned a record 12th consecutive victory on Sunday at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Red Bull's 12th win in a row saw them break the previous record held by McLaren in 1988. Verstappen also tied the second-longest win streak in F1 history with the victory.

"People forget how hard it is to win 12 in a row, even when you have the fastest car," Verstappen said, according to The Associated Press. "Hopefully we can keep this momentum going for a long time."

The leader in the driver standings shared the podium with McLaren's Lando Norris and teammate Sergio Perez, who finished second and third, respectively.

Verstappen started the race in second position after being out-qualified by Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, but he quickly overtook his old rival off the start en route to a dominant 33-second victory over his closest competitor in Norris.

It was a tremendous day for Red Bull overall, with Perez securing his sixth podium of the campaign after starting the race in ninth position. Checo earned driver of the day honors with his impeccable drive.

McLaren also received another terrific drive from Norris, who placed second in consecutive races, while his teammate Oscar Piastri finishing fifth.

Daniel Ricciardo recovered well to finish in 13th position during his AlphaTauri debut. The eight-time race winner spent much of the early parts of the race in 18th position after a collision between Alfa Romeo's Zhou Guanyu and the Alpines' Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon during the opening lap.

Speaking of the Alpines, the collision with Guanyu caused both vehicles to exit the race early. Both cars failed to finish for a second consecutive race after poor showings at the British Grand Prix.
