Magnussen would come from 12th on the starting grid and turn in a strong performance in Spielberg. The veteran driver would grab two spots shortly after the lights out and that would set the tone for the day. Magnussen would battle with his teammates at times, but he'd settle in behind Nico Hulkenberg the rest of the way. He would gain a spot late with Lando Norris' retirement and that would help offset losing a spot to Sergio Perez. The eighth-place finish would give Haas double points for the day and it would also be Magnussen's best finish of the season.
