Lewis Hamilton: Wins Ninth British Grand Prix
Hamilton has claimed a long-awaited - and record-breaking - ninth British Grand Prix victory in a thrilling race at Silverstone, with the Mercedes driver holding off a challenge from Lando Norris to take the win, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
A mix of dry and rainy conditions would make this an incredibly strategic British GP. Hamilton would start on the outside pole and run in the wheel tracks of his teammate and leader, George Russell, in the opening laps. Rain would come in after lap 16 and begin to shakeup pit strategies and tyre selections. The McLarens would leapfrog the Mercedes at one point, but Hamilton would promote to the lead on lap 44 after a slow Lando Norris pit stop. The Mercedes star would hold off Max Verstappen down the stretch to secure his ninth-career victory in the British GP.
