Lando Norris: Claims COTA Pole Position
Norris took a stunning pole position for the United States Grand Prix, with the McLaren driver's solid first effort in Q3 ultimately unable to be beaten as the session was brought to an early end following a dramatic crash for George Russell, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
Norris laid down the fast lap of Q3 at 1:32.330 and it would hold up to repeated challenges, especially from Max Verstappen. In the closing seconds of Q3 everyone was preparing to take one more shot at Norris' marker but a big crash outside of turn 19 by Russell would bring the session to a close. Norris will roll off P1 in Sunday's battle at Circuit of the Americas.
