George Russell: Leads FP1 in Mexico City
Mercedes driver Russell topped first practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix, leading the way from Ferrari rival Carlos Sainz and RB's Yuki Tsunoda in a session that featured several rookies and a couple of red flags, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
It was a wild, wild practice with so many rookie drivers participating Friday in Mexico. Russell would rise above the chaos and the accidents to claim P1 for the session. The Mercedes veteran would edge Sainz by a healthy three-tenths with a lap of 1:17.998 of the Mexico City circuit. Russell is hoping to rebound to the podium this weekend in the Mexico City GP.
