Carlos Sainz Jr: Tops FP2 in Mexico City
Sainz topped the timesheets during second practice ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, while a hefty crash for George Russell brought out the red flags in a session extended from 60 to 90 minutes to allow for testing of Pirelli's 2025 prototype tyre, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
Just 10 minutes into the session, Russell's crash would bring out the red flag. However, once things got back underway it would Sainz who would dash to the top of the time sheets. The Ferrari veteran would edge Oscar Piastri by just 0.17-seconds to claim the top lap time. Sainz is coming off a podium run in Austin and looking to keep the momentum rolling in Sunday's Mexico City GP.
