Max Verstappen: 5-Second Sprint Penalty

Red Bull driver Verstappen has been hit with a five-second time penalty following the Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint race, dropping him to fourth in the classification behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Verstappen had initially beaten Leclerc to get on the podium in Saturday's Sprint. However, a later review by the stewards showed that the Red Bull Racing star violated the minimum time under the virtual safety car during Nico Hulkenberg's mechanical failure and retirement late in the race. Verstappen was demoted from P3 to P4 as a result and loses one championship point as a result of the infraction.
