Lewis Hamilton: Sweeps Thursday at Las Vegas

Hamilton completed a Thursday practice clean sweep by setting the pace in FP2 for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, edging out McLaren rival Lando Norris and Mercedes team mate George Russell - with championship leader Max Verstappen only 17th after a low-key showing, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Mercedes' unexpected pace held up in FP2. Hamilton's best flying lap occurred just prior to the red flag for Alex Albon's malfunctioning machine. He would post a top time of 1:33.825 which was fastest of the day on the Vegas street course. Hamilton would edge Norris by mere thousandths and Russell by two tenths. He looks like a solid podium threat for Sunday's Las Vegas Grand Prix.
