Carlos Sainz Jr: P6 in Qatar Grand Prix

Sainz finished sixth in the Qatar Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Lusail Circuit on Sunday evening.

Analysis:

The seventh-place starting spot was not the qualifying effort Sainz had hoped for in Qatar, but he made the best of it in this grand prix on the Lusail Circuit. Sainz was able to grab a spot early on Lewis Hamilton's bobble and then shore up P5 just prior to the mid-race cautions and safety cars. The Ferrari driver would be a part of that drama as he would catch a tyre puncture in the debris but would pit for fresh tyres and begin a recovery drive from P8. Sainz would fiercely contest Pierre Gasly in the closing laps but could not make the overtake instead settling for sixth-place in Qatar.
