Lando Norris: Tops FP1 in Bahrain

Norris topped the timesheets during the opening practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, the McLaren driver going fastest from Pierre Gasly and Lewis Hamilton in an hour that featured appearances from six rookies, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Hot and sunny conditions would greet drivers as they took to the Sakhir Circuit for the first time this weekend. Norris would find himself practicing in a field full of young talent as six rookies would get in their hot laps with the various teams. Norris would have little trouble vaulting to the top of the time sheets with a lap of 1:33.204 on soft-shod tyres. He was two-tenths faster than Pierre Gasly and looks to be the pace setter again this weekend in Bahrain.
