Max Verstappen: Storms to Pole in Jeddah

Verstappen has stormed to an incredible pole position for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix amid a dramatic end to Qualifying that saw the Dutchman beat Oscar Piastri by just one-hundredth of a second, while Lando Norris suffered a hefty crash early in Q3, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Verstappen had been fourth or fifth best all weekend in the practices leading up to qualifying on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Norris' crash early in Q3 would open the door for Verstappen to pull the upset. The Red Bull Racing star recorded a lap of 1:27.294 to pip Piastri for pole position. It was Verstappen's second pole of the season and 42nd-career pole position. He'll be a top contender to win Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
